The Calls of Frogs and Toads

Where there are storm pools, there is home for our buddies toads and frogs!

And Redmond Ridge being a housing community is amply blessed with storm pools. Or in other words party places for lil fellas.

Since past few days I am hearing non-stop kwaak-kwaak croaks of frogs. Like a natural background music. Damn it is melodius. I wonder how so many frogs can sync together to create this beautiful harmonius orchestra. And what gives them so much enthusiasm to do it 24/7. Must need a lot of energy. And will.

This place is otherwise so damn quiet. Not even cars honk, and people yell or birds chirp. Now all of a sudden frogs show up from nowhere.

And btw, I got a ceramic winking frog y'day from Free Mont (North Seattle) sunday street market. And a dried butterfly, a real one. And a necklace of sea shells which I am wearing. And 2 big sea shells, pure white. If I put them by my ear, I can hear the trapped ocean sounds within :)

I searched on the internet about frogs and got some interesting information:

I am surprised there is a whole website on it:

http://allaboutfrogs.org/weird/general/songs.html

Why do frogs sing? Well...it's actually for a variety of reasons!
Sometimes, frogs sing when they are trying to attract a mate. "HEY! Baby!"
Sometimes, frogs sing to mark their territory. "This is MY Lilypad!"
Sometimes, frogs sing becasue they know the weather is going to change. "Rain!!!"
Sometimes, frogs squeek when they are frightened or hurt. "Ouch! Eek!"
